WARRINGTON Wolves' Challenge Cup quarter-final opponents have been revealed.
The Wire have been paired with neighbours St Helens in the last-eight draw, with the tie to take place at Saints' Totally Wicked Stadium over the weekend of April 13-14.
Darts stars Michael Smith and Joe Cullen were on hand to draw the teams out of the hat during BBC Radio Five Live's "Monday Night Club" programme.
Full details of the tie, including the firm date and whether or not the match will be televised, are expected to be confirmed in the coming days.
Warrington draw St Helens in Challenge Cup
The draw means Warrington will run into their neighbours earlier than anticipated - the two sides were not scheduled to meet in Super League until Wire’s visit to The Totally Wicked Stadium on July 19.
Recent meetings with Saints have not been kind to Warrington given they have not beaten them in nearly three years, but their recent Challenge Cup record against the men in the Red Vee gives reason to cheer.
Most memorable was, of course, the against-the-odds Wembley win in 2019 while the last meeting behind closed doors at Salford Community Stadium in the 2020 quarter-finals also resulted in a Warrington victory by 20 points to 18.
Overall, though, their Challenge Cup record against St Helens is a losing one with six wins and 11 defeats in 18 ties as well as one draw.
The other standout tie of the draw is a rematch of last year's final, with holders Leigh Leopards paired with runners-up Hull KR.
Catalans Dragons will host Huddersfield Giants in Perpignan while Wigan Warriors will travel to Castleford Tigers.
