WARRINGTON Wolves will get at least two senior players back for next week's return to Super League action.

Head coach Sam Burgess confirmed The Wire will have second-rowers Ben Currie and Lachlan Fitzgibbon available for Catalans Dragons' visit to The Halliwell Jones Stadium next Saturday.

And with no further injuries picked up during the Challenge Cup victory over London Broncos, Burgess is hoping for some much-needed selection consistency in the coming weeks.

"I feel we’re doing okay and we’ve had a really inconsistent team selection due to injury and a few other things," he said.

"Hopefully we get some consistency over the next few weeks and we’ll see what we’re about.

"We’re gradually getting a few things right but we’ll have a look at it moving forward into Catalans."

Fitzgibbon arrived back in the UK on Wednesday having been allowed to return to Australia due to a family bereavement last week.

Currie has been carrying an injury but also missed last week's Super League win in London due to family commitments as he and wife Louise awaited the birth of their second child.

Both will be back in the fold to face the French side, who are the only side to beat Warrington so far in 2024, but half-back George Williams remains doubtful with an ankle injury.

"We’ll have a few guys healthy next week," Burgess said.

"We’ll certainly have Ben Currie and Lachlan Fitzgibbon available, which helps us out.

"George is still a doubt – there’s a couple who are 50-50 and we won’t risk anyone. We’ll see how we are on Monday or Tuesday.

"We came through today pretty cleanly so that’s something to be pleased about."

Prop Joe Bullock did not make it onto the field during Wire's 42-0 sixth-round win despite being named on the bench for a second consecutive week.

And Burgess confirmed the reason why he opted to run with 16 players as opposed to a full quota.

"Joe was sick before the game – he needed a hot water bottle on the sideline," he said.

"I sent him for a shower with 20 to go to get him more comfortable."
