STEVE Price praised his backroom staff as he looks set to name an unchanged team for The Wire’s Magic Weekend clash with Wigan Warriors on Saturday.

Price confirmed there are no new injuries within his squad, and that Dom Crosby (ankle) and Toby King (hamstring) were not yet ready to return.

That leaves the way clear for The Wire to field the same matchday 17 for the third game in a row as they take on their neighbours at Newcastle’s St James’ Park.

Price says credit has to go to the team behind the scenes and the work they do to keep injuries to a minimum.

“Dom and Toby won’t play this weekend, so we’ll be very close from last week’s team,” he said.

“We’re in pretty good shape. We’re all healthy and we came through the Toronto game unscathed.

“It’s credit to our high-performance staff and how they are managing the players’ training loads.

“The lads do a lot of “pre-hab” and injury prevention work prior to and around training. The hard work is certainly paying off.”

The Wire’s clash with Wigan is sure to be one of the highlights of the Magic Weekend, which is being held in Newcastle for the fourth year in a row.

Despite his side having won 10 games in a row in all competitions, Price insists his side have still got plenty of improvement in them.

However, he does not expect them to unlock their full potential against Shaun Wane’s side.

“I’m sure Wigan can improve, and we certainly know we can go up another couple of levels,” he said.

“I don’t expect that to be this weekend. It’s just over the halfway mark so there’s a lot of football to be played.

“We’ll keep taking it week by week and keep growing that belief and trust in the group. It’s certainly showing out on the pitch.

“Wigan are a quality team and are the benchmark along with St Helens.

“There’s a lot of strong belief within both teams, so hopefully that will make for a great spectacle.”
