DARYL Clark is keen to ensure The Wire will not be talked about as this year’s major victim of a Challenge Cup ‘giant-killing.’

Steve Price’s side take a trip into the unknown on Sunday afternoon as they collide with Toronto Wolfpack for the first time ever.

The Canadian outfit have assembled a talented squad as they aim to become the first team from outside Europe to reach Super League, including former Wire players Matty Russell, Ashton Sims and Gareth O’Brien.

They also beat several Super League clubs to the signing of prop Darcy Lussick from NRL side Manly Sea Eagles last month and currently sit three points clear at the top of the Championship.

The Wire will start as favourites, but Clark is wary of cup upsets from down the years.

“The beauty of the Challenge Cup is that there’s always upsets,” he said.

“We just have to make sure it’s not us that is involved in anything like that.

“They’ve been doing really well in the Championship and have racked up a lot of easy wins.

“We know they can throw the ball about and play some good rugby.

“We’ve been training hard all week and we know we have to turn up and play to our best.”
