THIS week’s extended contract signing leaves Wolves skipper Chris Hill in buoyant mood for England’s crunch clash with Australia at the London Stadium on Sunday, kick off 2pm.

As England bid to book a place in the Ladbrokes Four Nations Final, Hill is expected to feature in the front row after successive starts in a 17-16 loss to New Zealand in Huddersfield and then Saturday’s 38-12 defeat of Scotland in Coventry.

His rugby league bucket list, which includes winning a Grand Final with The Wire, also features beating the Aussies.

And to do so in the capital this weekend would cap off a first year as Warrington skipper that brought League Leaders’ Shield success along with two heartbreaking narrow defeats in finals at Wembley and Old Trafford.

“I’m all ready to go again and hopefully be selected this week,” said the 29-year-old in the closing stages of his fifth season with Warrington.

“To win against the Aussies would be great, but I want to go on to the final and win it – it’s as simple as that.

“I want to finish the season on a high after a couple of disappointments in the season in the finals.

“I want to put my feet up with a bit of a smile on my face.”

He was not smiling after the victory over Scotland.

“We knew they’d make it tough for us, they’re a good side and had nothing to lose,” he said.

“I thought they played really well, but we were poor in the first half. We’ll improve and get better and we did in the second half.

“We didn’t have any composure in the first half, no field position, some silly penalties were given away and it gave them a leg-up.”

Defeating the Kangaroos by 12 points or more will guarantee Wayne Bennett’s men a place in the final at Liverpool’s Anfield home on Sunday, November 20.

An England win by less than 12 points, and a win by New Zealand against Scotland at Workington tomorrow, Friday, will mean the finalists will be decided on points difference.

Australia are currently +48, with England +25 and New Zealand -5.

If the Kiwis lose to Scotland, then England could still qualify on points difference even in defeat to Australia.
