WOLVES’ veteran stand-off Kurt Gidley has been named the First Utility Super League Player of the Month for April, meaning all three monthly awards have been won by Wire players.
The 33-year-old has defied a knock to his thigh that has hampered his kicking to enjoy a stellar month for Tony Smith’s side, with his experience influential in their charge to the top of Super League.
The former Newcastle Knights man, who also signed a 12-month extension to his Wolves contract during April, beat off competition from Hull FC’s Marc Sneyd, St Helens’ Theo Fages, Wakefield’s Jacob Miller and Catalan’s Glenn Stewart to scoop the prize.
Gidley’s win completes an unprecedented hat-trick for Wolves after Chris Sandow won the February and March awards.
