WOLVES Under-19s head coach Lee Briers says his side can improve in attack despite a crushing 76-0 win over Newcastle Thunder at the weekend.

Briers’ side ran in fifteen tries, including four for scrum-half Morgan Smith and two each for Charlie Pythian and Lewis Turner, as they recorded their fourth win in a row.

However, Briers says the scoreline was harsh on a Thunder side that posed his youngsters plenty of problems.

“I was really pleased with a very professional display from the lads against a Newcastle side who really do deserve great credit for never giving up,” he said.

“They put us under a lot of pressure, especially in the first half, and the scoreline is probably a little harsh on them.

“I was delighted with the way our defence stood up and it is always a fine achievement to ‘nil’ a side.”

Briers says his side will continue to work on their attack before this Friday’s clash with St Helens and also expressed his delight at getting some fresh players into the team.

“Some of the fifteen tries we scored were top class but there are still some areas that we can improve on in attack and we will continue to work on these,” he said.

“Another positive from the game was the return from long-term injury of Brad Stanway and Ellis Robson whilst Tom Pinder made his debut for the club.

“We will now get ready for our next game against St Helens, which promises to be a very exciting contest.”
