SIMON Grix's Testimonial campaign will be launched at a dinner in the new year.

Warrington Wolves' pre-season match against Leigh Centurions will also be in benefit of Grix, who has become a part of the Warrington Wolves performance team after serving the club as a player for 10 years.

He has been awarded a 12-month Testimonial by the Rugby Football League in recognition of his career, good character and service to the community both within and around the sport.

The back rower, who gained international honours with Ireland and has signed with Championship club Halifax for the 2016 season, started his career with his hometown club Halifax.

He moved to Warrington in November 2004 and proved himself to be the ultimate utility player, making 179 appearances and scoring 48 tries - one of which was at the Grand Final against Wigan in 2013.

The benefit campaign will be launched at a dinner at the Fir Grove Hotel on Saturday, February 6, where Grix will be joined by a number of Warrington Wolves players and further details of the year's Testimonial events will be confirmed.

Other events include a Q&A (Warrington and Halifax), Ladies and Gentlemen’s Nights; a family fun day; the Grix Factor and a golf day.

A themed testimonial calendar will be revealed in early December, along with a brochure.

Grix's chosen charity is The Warrington Wolves Foundation which works in the community, using the umbrella of sport to work in health, education, young people and social welfare.
