North Wales Crusaders 20 Warrington Wolves under 19s 16

WARRINGTON Wolves under 19s braved the conditions at Eirias Parc but could not overcome new partner club North Wales Crusaders.

Both clubs agreed to three 20-minute spells on a boggy pitch while enduring the hailstorm in north Wales.

After the opening two periods, Wolves were 6-4 ahead as youngster Reece Brunt’s try cancelled out an effort by Alex Thompson The game did liven up in the final 20-minute period, though, with both sides exchanging two tries before Scott Turner’s late effort sealed the win for the Wrexham side.

Rob Massam had a try for the hosts ruled out early on out as he placed a foot in touch, but Crusaders took the lead soon after when Thompson collected Dallimore’s short ball to touch down.

However, Wolves’ youngsters began to get a grip on the game and were continually knocking on the door.

Eventually, their pressure was made to count as Brunt put in a strong run to force his way over the line.

And they built on their lead when Harvey Livett, collecting a loose pass by Crusaders near their own line, strolled in for a try.

Ryan Duffy came up with a swift response for Crusaders as he showed pure strength to force his way past a number of Wolves defenders on his way to the line.

The home side added their third four minutes later through Tommy Johnson, who was sent through a gap following good work by Callum Wright and Karl Ashall to spread the ball wide.

An immediate response followed from Warrington through Morgan Smith, before Turner, cutting inside from the right, finished in the corner to secure victory for Crusaders.
