WARRINGTON Wolves' rising Cumbrian prop forward Tom Walker is to gain experience with Workington Town this year.

He has been transferred to the Championship side with immediate effect, and Wolves retain first option on him when that undisclosed period ends.

Walker, aged 20, featured in this week’s pre-season friendly win against Widnes Vikings and made the 19-man Super League match squad for Wolves in 2014.

He was previously part of Town’s academy before joining Wolves.

Walker, now too old to play at Academy Championship level, will gain regular game time and open-age first-team experience with the Derwent Park club.
