TONY Smith is hoping the rugby league Gods continue to shine down on Warrington Wolves as they approach their final preparations for the Super League season’s start in 18 days’ time.

Warrington headed off to their regular ‘T3’ training base in sunny Tenerife on Monday as the cold snap hit Britain, prompting memories of 2010 when Wolves left the country the same week the UK experienced its coldest weather for almost 40 years.

“We seem to have timed it well this year, too,” he said today.

“The rugby league Gods are shining down on us at the moment, giving us the opportunity to work on the team coordination and combinations as groups, but also the stuff that the players need to work on as individuals.”
