DESPITE a much-improved performance, Warrington Wolves’ slump in form continued on Friday night.

Having led 20-12 inside the final quarter, The Wire succumbed to a fightback from defending champions St Helens, for whom tries from Jonny Lomax and Lewis Dodd sealed the victory.

A stunning try from Matt Dufty had followed Matty Ashton’s interception try to give Wire hope of a shock win, but they have now lost six of their past seven matches in all competitions.

James Bell’s controversial score had put Saints six points ahead at the break after Ashton’s first try had cancelled out an effort from Mark Percival.
