WARRINGTON Wolves captain Chris Hill is celebrating the birth of his baby daughter after leaving the pitch during last night’s Super League opener when his wife went into labour.
The prop’s pregnant wife Kathryn was watching the Wire’s clash with Leeds Rhinos from the stands at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Having had contractions before the game kicked off, she went into labour at half time and was rushed to hospital by her parents.
Hill was then substituted during the second half of the 16-12 loss and followed Kathryn to hospital.
This lunchtime he shared a photo of his new-born daughter Iris-Kay on Twitter, adding that mum and baby were ‘doing well’.
He said: “Thanks for all the messages – sorry I had to leave early but Mother Nature waits for no one.
“Mother and Iris-Kay are doing well.”

Iris-Kay joins Chris and Kathryn’s existing brood of three children – Connor, Oliver and Niamh.
We'll let you off, Hilly! 😉 Congratulations to Chris and Kath and welcome to the Wire family Iris-Kay! https://t.co/1CFBb2GKbL

After the game, Wire head coach Steve Price said: "I've never been in that situation before as a coach.
"It was important that Chris did the right thing and was at the side of his wife – Chris made that decision and we fully support him.
"We were aware of it pre-game – she was having a few contractions prior to the game.
"It's one of those things and the timing fell into Leeds' favour I suppose."
Wire fans also took to social media to pass on their best wishes to their skipper and his wife.
All the best @Chrishilly1987 hope all goes with you missus n family #babywire 💙💛 @wolvesrl
