NEW Warrington Wolves head coach Steve Price has provided a squad update as pre-season training kicks in, including the club's current position on recruiting additional players.

The former Cronulla Sharks assistant boss and his new right-hand men Andrew Henderson and Lee Briers put the initial training group through their paces yesterday.

Nine of the 26-man squad, including new recruit Ben Murdoch-Masila, are currently representing their countries Down Under in the World Cup and the three other overseas newcomers Bryson Goodwin, Tyrone Roberts and Sitaleki Akauola are yet to arrive in the country.

"I'm really pleased with the squad and how it's come together," he said.

"We've still got one position available, so that's where we're up to.

"I definitely feel we've got a lot of positions filled that we needed to.

"Tyrone, Sitaleki and Bryson should hopefully be here in the next week, definitely Sitaleki and Bryson, maybe it will be the following week for Tyrone.

"So it's all exciting. It's a good opportunity now with the nine guys over in the World Cup to be able to put a lot of energy into the smaller group and also get a couple of the academy 19-year-olds to come into pre-season, giving a pathway and an opportunity for these kids to be Wire players for years to come down the track.

"I think that will be really beneficial."
