INJURY NEWS: Michael Monaghan injury blow for Warrington Wolves
WOLVES have been hit with an injury blow.
Michael Monaghan is facing a lay-off with a suspected torn calf.
The in-form hooker, who recently announced he would be retiring at the end of the season, limped out of the second half of today's Challenge Cup quarter-final success against Bradford Bulls.
Wolves' head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith said: "It's taken the edge off things a little bit, I'm feeling a little bit flat for him.
"I'm gutted for him in the short term because he's playing absolutely fantastic rugby league.
"We'll see what sort of lay-off it is. Hopefully it's not that long.
"He would be a loss but we have a capable hooker in Micky Higham and waiting in the wings is Brad Dwyer, who always does a good job for us when he's called upon.
"It's just like when you lose Bennie Westwood, somebody has to come in, and when you lose Paul Wood, somebody has to come in. We'll deal with it."
