Praise for Warrington Wolves' junior talent
10:40am Tuesday 17th December 2013 in Wolves
BEN Lazenby is confident there are future stars among Wolves' junior ranks.
Wolves' head of youth, junior recruitment and development was talking in response to six Warrington players being named in England train-on squads for 2014.
Under 19s pair Jack Johnson and Toby King have been named in the England Academy development squad with international fixtures to be scheduled throughout the year.
Under 16s players Jack Fox, Dan Norman, George Moore and Charlie Phythian will be part of next year’s England Youth squad.
Lazenby said: “We are absolutely delighted for the players who have been selected within the England squads.
"It is no surprise because all of them have demonstrated a keen and strong work ethic, good personal values and have taken charge and responsibility of their own development.
“Alongside many other players within our junior set-up these young men have demonstrated that they are prepared to work hard, be honest and trustworthy and all of these values are key in progressing as a professional footballer.
“I have no doubt that there is a cluster of future stars within our junior ranks and as a club we will continue to identify and develop top-class players and good people who will progress to represent the club and their country both on and off the field to the highest standards.”
Andy Gatcliffe, Wolves’ chief executive, said: “On behalf of everyone involved at the club I would like to congratulate these six players on their international selection.
"This is a notable individual achievement and helps to highlight the strength of the youth development pathway we have in place here at the club.
"It also recognises the hard work put in by, not just the players, but their families and the coaching and performance staff at this level.”
