Eagle 56 Ashton-under-Lyne 7
EAGLE coach Danny Cahill says Saturday’s crushing win over Ashton-under-Lyne was a product of the players “believing in themselves.”
Captain Simon Counsell scored twice as the hosts ran in 10 tries in all at Thornton Road, with Joe Miller and Will Weir also scoring twice.
The triumph was a second win in a row for the Great Sankey side after last week’s cup win over Old Bedians and Cahill believes the roots of Saturday’s victory lie in last week’s second half.
“We have spent too much of the season starting and finishing badly,” he said.
“At Bedians, the players began to believe in themselves after half time, and that attitude continued.”
Eagle travel to Ormskirk in the Lancs/Cheshire Division Three North on Saturday.
