Vale of Lune 38 Warrington 0

A MUCH changed Warrington team got a close-up look at Vale of Lune’s improved form in the second half of the North One West season.

Trailing 19-0 going into the second half without the influential Max Walker – and then being reduced to 13 men for a spell – proved too much of a mountain to climb against clinical hosts.

With Danny Aboushakra making his debut at number six, veteran coach Andy Roberts coming out of retirement at 10 and Sean Yoxhall starting for the first time since returning from travels to the Antipodes, Warrington started the game well.

But final passes did not go to hand, and support play was lacking.

And as the odds raised, they struggled to compete.

Roberts said: “There was a huge amount of enthusiasm and effort from a young squad who will learn a lot from this experience.

“We must get better at taking our opportunities and turning possession into points.”

Warrington head to promotion contenders Kirkby Lonsdale on Saturday.
