Moore 2nd 40 Widnes 17

MOORE second team came out on top in a bottom-of-the-table clash when they hosted Widnes at Moss Lane on Saturday.

Moore began playing downhill and applying pressure which resulted in Widnes having to kick the ball out of their 22.

Moore continued to apply pressure until 14 minutes into the first half, when Widnes seized the opportunity for the first try of the game.

The Moore team soon regrouped and applied pressure and responded with three tries which enabled them to take control of the game.

With some great forwards play and the instrument of game play from Timothy Mark Forber, the three tries came from Lee in the 26th minute, Taylor on the half hour and McLarney two minutes later.

The second half began with Moore playing up hill towards the club house and the home supporters were faced with Widnes sprinting out of the starting blocks to apply pressure onto the hosts.

However, with the quick-thinking of the backs and supporting play from the forwards, the Moore captain, Bullough, took the game to the Widnes try line and was awarded a score in the sixth minute of the second half.

Moore then took the pressure off the gas pedal and were found wanting on the wing.

Widnes took advantage of this and replied with two tries.

Moore continued to apply pressure and with their never-give-up attitude, moved the ball up the park towards the club house with Frankling taking a few Widnes players with him to score a try two minutes from time.

Williams scored Moore’s sixth and final try in the 79th minute.

Moore travel to Southport in two weeks looking to continue their climb out of the bottom half of the table.
