HARRIET Knowles-Jones was the highest placed of a dozen Warrington Athletics Club runners in Saturday’s ESAA National Cross Country Championships at Wollaton Park.
She placed 17th for Greater Manchester schools in the junior girls’ class while clubmates Lizzie Smith and Kate Merrill – both in Cheshire colours – finished 118th and 178th respectively in the same race.
Katie Ashcroft crossed the line in 175th position for the senior girls.
Matt Wigelsworth, representing Merseyside, was 41st in the junior boys’ category.
Cheshire runners Liam Burthem (97th) and Daniel Evans (161st) competed in the same race.
Matt Hulse led the Warrington AC’s runners in the inter boys’ event, coming home 136th followed by Jack Gleave (216th) and Chris Smith (265th).
In the senior boys race Tom Jervis (Greater Manchester) was 57th, while Liam Renton (Cheshire) finished 92nd.
