WARRINGTON’S Olympian rowers start their World Cup campaign tomorrow, Friday.
Former Warrington Rowing Club star Richard Egington will be in action in Bled, Slovenia, as part of an unchanged Great Britain men’s four crew who were crowned champions at last summer’s World Championships.
Matthew Langridge, from Northwich, Alex Gregory and Alex Partridge join ex-Lymm High School pupil Egington, aged 31, in the boat.
The quartet won two of the three World Cup final races in 2009, losing to Germany in the other, before going on to take the world crown.
Their target is a repeat.
Fellow Beijing Olympian, Daresbury’s Olivia Whitlam, won the 2010 GB Rowing Team Senior Trials with partner Louisa Reeve and will be one of three women’s pairs representing GB in Bled.
Whitlam and Reeve will double up into the women’s eight boat.
