BIRCHWOOD Golf Club professional Phil Archer missed out on a second successive appearance at the US Open when he failed to qualify on Monday.

Archer made his first major appearance at last year's US Open but finished tied 41st in Monday's qualifying event for the 2007 tournament.

Rounds of 72 and 76 left him on four over par and nine shots off qualification at Walton Heath Golf Club in Surrey.

The 35-year-old is not in European Tour action this weekend after finishing in a creditable tied 35th position at the Celtic Manor Wales Open in Newport on Sunday.

Rounds of 68 and 65 put him joint 15th after two days before he went round in 70 on both Saturday and Sunday to finish the event on three under par.
