EIGHT of Warrington Athletics Club’s youngest competitors took part in a national event in Loughborough on Saturday.

They were among 1,888 runners completing 10 races in the National Primary and Year 7 Schools Cross Country Championships at Prestwold Hall.

Luis Davidson tackled the course a year above his age fantastically and crossed the line 29th in the Year 3 boys race.

Ivy Davidson ran excellently in the Year 4 girls to finish 40th while in the Year 4 boys Alex Roberts to well to seal 78th.

Emilia Gandy bagged a superb 22nd place in the Year 5 girls, Alex Farrell also doing brilliantly to place 28th in Year 5 boys.

Sebastian Hughes was close behind in 34th while also running well was Alfie Furnival in 50th and Tristan Tickle in 79th.

Unfortunately for the boys it is six to count for the team event and they were unable to get any more runners.

Bethany Roberts completed the club’s representation in the Year 6 girls race, running well to achieve 73rd spot.

Elsewhere, three Warrington Athletics Club runners took part in the very high standard Trafford 10K road race at Partington on Sunday.

Brandon Quinton was first to finish with a superb run to place 14th with a personal best 29mins 44secs, an improvement of 53 seconds on his previous best time.

Cameron Field was next to finish in 77th place, also improving his personal best time by 18 seconds with 31mins 15secs.

Dave Norman completed the squad in 471st place in 37mins 48secs to win the over 60s age group.
