A CLUB record was broken by a Warrington athlete at the weekend.

Under 17s ace Lewis Shaw went faster than any Warrington Athletics Club runner before him in the indoor 60m hurdles.

Shaw clocked 8.20secs as he won the race in the Manchester Indoor Open meeting at Sportcity.

He later registered a personal best in his 60 metres sprint, with 7.56secs securing him third spot.

Some of his clubmates produced eye-catching displays as well.

In the 300m, under 17 Ellie Barker won her race in 42.66secs while in the same age group Efa Rees finished third in 50.94secs.

Under 20 Lisa Halliday won her 60m hurdles race in a PB 9.84secs and then finished fourth in her 60m race, also in a personal best time 8.49secs.

In a mixed long jump event, under 20 Sophia Rowlinson was sixth overall with a personal best 4.55m which placed her first under 20 woman.

Two Warrington AC athletes took part in the Tatton Yule Yomp in Tatton Park.

Claire Andrew came home 14th overall in 43mins 40secs, placing her third woman and second over 45 woman.

Jack Pilkington also ran but got into the festive spirit by running dressed as The Grinch, finishing in 353rd place in 1hr 2mins 29secs.

Meanwhile, Tallie Sze and Leah Poole tackled the Northern Indoor Open meeting at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

Sze leapt to second place in the under 15s girls long jump with 4.73m, while Poole was 11th with 3.96m - both close to their personal bests.

Poole finished sixth in her 60m heat with a PB 8.89secs, and also ran her fastest 150m time of 21.58secs.

Sze finished second in her 150m heat with a personal best 19.92secs, while Poole was fifth in her heat in a PB 21.58secs.

Jordan Jones was among a high-class field in the Telford 10K on Sunday, battling very wet conditions and finishing 108th in a PB 30mins 58secs.

Three of the club’s youngsters collected medals in the Run Through Heaton Park Junior Race on Sunday, splashing through the puddles in style.

Seb Hughes was second in 3mins 42secs and was followed across the line in third place by Leonard Broadhurst in 4mins exactly.

Jessica Treagust finished 11th overall in 5mins 01secs to place third girl.

Master athlete Dave Gill added to his Northern Masters titles at the Brownlee Triathlon Centre in Leeds.

While doing a 15-mile tempo training run he took in the Ken Mayor 5K road race, incorporating the Northern Masters Championships, and with a time of 19mins 38secs he won the over 65s age group to collect his sixth Northern title of the year.
