A WARRINGTON athlete was first over the line in the Run Tatton 10K Road Race on a day when debutants over distances made their mark.

Jordan Jones also had company from two other Warrington Athletics Club runners in the top eight in Knutsford.

But Jones was a comfortable winner in the dreadful wet conditions, clocking 32mins 08secs.

Adam Rashud’s performance also caught the eye as he finished in third place on his debut over the distance, registering 35mins 09secs to win the over 40s age group.

And capping a successful event for Warrington AC, another debutant over the distance, Daniel Lunt, came home in eighth place with 37mins 53secs to place second in the over 35s age group.

Another representing Warrington AC, Brian Shaw, acted as a pacemaker and finished in 235th place in 54mins 49secs.

Success also came for the club in the Preston 10 miles Road Race on Sunday, with Brandon Quinton winning thanks to an excellent run on his debut over the distance.

To top it off, his 49mins 53secs time took him to sixth place in the UK under 23s rankings.
