BASKETBALL and netball players are now full swing into their winter season.

Teams who compete in the Warrington Sport for All Centre Leagues recently finished as table toppers or contested finals in the summer campaign.

Winners were crowned in both sports after hard-fought games took place between April and October.

In basketball, Warrington winners were Time Team in men’s Division One, Culcheth in men’s Division Two, Tune Squad in the mixed league, Padgate Giants in under 20s A, Padgate Raptors in year nine and 10 Division One, BBFA Trojans in year nine and 10 Div Two and BBFA Eos in year three and four.

Other titles went to Northwich Royals in under 20s B, Northwich BC in under 17s Division One and Two, Northwich Lions in year seven and eight Division One, Alsager BC in year seven and eight Division Two, Cheshire side Phoenix A in year five and six Division One, Northwich Lions in year five and six Division Two.

Coming out on top in the four senior netball leagues were Warrington sides Avengers in the Sunday Premier Division, Bunny Ballers in Sunday Division One, Jammies in the Monday Premier League, Lymm Springers in Monday Division One, Dolly Mixtures in the Wednesday Premier Division, Bridgewater Belles in Wednesday Division One and Grappenhall in the Thursday Premier Division.

Stars, from Leigh, took the Thursday Division One top spot.

The Junior Netball League, with teams ranging from school years one to 11, featured competition from established clubs, Warrington Sport for All Centre community clubs and teams across Cheshire in battles to gain places in finals.

Warrington’s winners were Rubies at under 19s level, Warrington Wildfire in years seven to nine Division Two, Warrington Wizards Blue in years five and six Division One, Stockton Stingrays in the years one to four competition.

Other victors were Runcorn’s Beechwood Hailstorm in the years five and six Premier Division, Sandbach Ice in years seven to nine Premier Division, Northwich Sapphires Diamonds in years seven to nine Division One, Chester’s WESPA Fire in the years 10 and 11 Premier Division, Sandbach Thunder in years 10 and 11 Division One, Sandbach Blizzard in years 10 and 11 Division One.
