IT was a weekend of firsts for Penketh racer Stephen Johansen in the Volkswagen Racing Cup at Donington Park.
The Speedworks driver secured his first ever pole position in the competition, taking the chequered flag in qualifying ahead of overall championship leader Bobby Thompson.
This meant he started the first of two races at the Derbyshire circuit from the front of the grid but was overtaken by Thompson.
Johansen could not regain his position but managed to cross the line second, his first ever VW Racing Cup podium.
