TWENTY-ONE Warrington Athletics Club runners contested the final round of the Manchester Area Cross Country League at Woodbank Memorial Park in Stockport on Saturday.

One win and three second places, plus one team victory, were achieved in the overall league.

In the women’s race Lauren Ferris ran excellently to score her fourth win in the league to take the overall league title.

In the under 15s race Joe Buckley continued his good form to take victory, with Jordan Jones taking third and Isaaq Ataullah 15th to finish second in the team event on 19 points.

In the overall league contest Joe and Jordan finished up with 10 points each and could not be separated on countback, while the team took the overall title by one point from Macclesfield.

Sam Rostron ran excellently to finish second in the under 17s race which moved him up to second in the overall league contest.

In the under 11s race, with Molly Wormald, 34th, Emily Entwistle, 35th and Lucie Davies completing the counting team in 37th place. The team finished in 13th place on 106 points.

In the under 13s race, Rhys Hopkins and Reece Connell were both unfortunately brought down in the melee at the start but worked their way back up the field to finish in 34th and 38th places respectively.

For the girls, Eva Ferris and Maisie Bell came home 18th and 19th respectively, with Isobel Houghton 30th, and Jasmine Jones, 39th. The team finished eighth on 67 points.

In the girls’ race Olivia Doodson finished 12th, with Isla Kenworthy and Fay Humphreys 32nd and 33rd as the team finished seventh.
