WARRINGTON Hockey Club start their pre-season training this week and are looking for new players of all ages who have been inspired by Great Britain’s gold medal at the Olympics.

In addition to their two team’s in both the men’s and women’s section, the club are setting up a junior section for this year as they look to capitalise on the nation’s ‘Olympic fever’.

The club are also looking to continue their own success after the men’s first team and both women’s sides gained promotion last season.

They will be running training sessions especially for beginners and people who would like to get back to hockey after a break.

Women’s first team captain and club chairperson Louise Unsworth says she is excited about the new season.

“Three of our four teams won promotion last year so it’s going to be a challenging playing in our new divisions,” she said.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming new players down to training who may have seen from Rio how exciting hockey is and want to give it a try.”

Training is on Thursday evenings at 6.30pm at Warrington Sports Club for the next couple of weeks, then moves to Priestley College at 7pm.
