WARRINGTON duo Mathew Waldron and Ben Ashcroft braved some testing conditions in their respective races at Oulton Park over the weekend.

Both were taking part in the differing categories of the Thundersport GB Championships at the Cheshire circuit, with Waldron achieving the best result of the weekend in his first race.

Competing in the GP1 race on board his Kawasaki ZX10, Waldron was in ninth place on a wet track before fighting his way through the field.

He eventually finished fifth out of 35 starters ahead of the second race, for which the track had dried out significantly.

However, despite the improved conditions, Waldron found himself way down the 39-man field after the first lap.

He was able to gain numerous places as he scythed through the field, but he could only manage 20th place.

Aboard his Aprilia 450, Ashcroft finished 19th out of a possible 24 in the first of his two Aprilia Challenge races.

His second outing proved to be more profitable as he managed to keep going while his rivals dropped out and improved to 14th place.
