Lymm 4 Ben Rhydding 2nd 1
LYMM began well, dominating the early stages of the game and excellent forward work from Natalie Riley twice played in Alex Pepper who finished brilliantly – her second goal a slide to meet the ball before the keeper.
In midfield Lisa Hartley-Woodrow was on hand to create problems for the opposition up front and although Ben Rhydding sneaked in a goal before the half was over Lymm were four goals up via Nat Riley and Kiery Horne, both finding the net following fast-moving quick-touch build up play.
Lymm eased off the intensity in the second period but controlled the game without adding to the score.
Alex Pepper was named player of the game.
Alderley Edge 2nd 3 Lymm 2nd 1
LYMM second travelled to the Edge this weekend to take on rivals from previous divisions Alderley Edge second.
Although the away side had a lot of pressure in the opening quarter of the match they were unable to capitalise on it and it was Alderley who converted their attack onto the score sheet with them being 2-0 up at half time.
The Lymm team did lift their game at times in the second half but could only manage a 1-1 draw thanks to a goal from Anthea Bowman, resulting in a final score of 3-1 to the home side, who simply were quicker to the ball and just looked keener than the Lymm side.
Lymm’s player of the game was voted as Lizzie McDonough while the opposition nominated mid Anna McKinnon.
