WARRINGTON'S Phil Davies and Carl Armitage have secured places in the Wharton Cons Open final in Winsford on August 30, hunting a £700 first prize on August 30.
They will be busy on successive weekends.
Davies and Armitage will be joined by fellow Warrington players Tommy Johnstone and Lee Johnstone in the Cheshire away team that contests the British Crown Green Bowls Association English Senior County Championship against holders Warwick and Worcester at British Oaks Bowls Club in Birmingham on Sunday, September 6.
They will also feature in the Mike Roach competition final rounds at Woolston Royal British Legion on Sunday, September 13, starting at noon.
Organiser Chris Ashton said: "No doubt Gary Ellis will once again start a short-priced favourite to regain his crown and the £700 first prize but with three other former winners in the last 16 it certainly won't be easy, and the clash between the winners of the last two years - Warrington's Carl Armitage and Llanwrst's John Bailey - is mouthwatering to say the least."
Final day draw: K Wainwright v J Stone, D Beardmore v T Johnstone, S Harrison v B Burlinson, J Bailey v C Armitage, G Ellis v D McDermott, C Brown v D Jones, J Taylor v A Manual, P Davies v J Welsby.
