WARRINGTON Golf Club’s new Junior Captain Ben Wallis performed the curtain-raiser to the junior season with the traditional drive-in from the 11th tee.
Watched by large crowd of family, fellow juniors and other members Ben had the nerve-wracking experience reserved for club captains as he hit his drive.
It drifted with draw on to the 18th fairway for a creditable 250 yards – predicted in the charity sweep by his nan.
She kindly donated her winnings of £320 to St Rocco’s Hospice to make this a great start for Ben’s captaincy year.
The drive-in was followed by a 13-hole Texas Scramble won by James Walsh, Matt Caldwell, Michael Adlem and Dominic Smith.
