ACADEMY bowler Daniel Roberts has ended Dave Penketh’s reign in the Warrington Catholic League Merit in dramatic circumstances.
St Josephs B ace Penketh, winner for the past three years, was lying game at 20 across on the last end of Saturday’s final at Tetleys when Roberts delivered his killer blow.
He hit his own short to count and win 21-20.
Roberts defeated clubmate Liam Sullivan 21-18 in the semi finals, while Penketh ended the hopes of St Peters’ Steve Gilfedder to book his passage.
