WARRINGTON Badminton League’s under 19s representative team won the Cheshire Junior Inter-League Tournament, while the under 15s finished third.
The older team, featuring Alistair Hawgood, Sam Cooper, James Collins, Isaac Everson, Amy Bremner, Lucy Woodhouse, drew 4-4 with Wirral and defeated Crewe 6-2 on Sunday.
Hawgood won all his singles and, with Everson, his doubles.
Cooper showed tremendous stamina and won a decisive doubles with Collins, who, with Bremner, was dominant in all their mixed games.
Woodhouse and Bremner were dominant against Crewe.
Warrington’s under 15s players Callum Hewitt, Kieran Tsang, Dan Woodhouse, Saran Dhulipala, Abigail Collins and Kirtti Sathyanathan gave their all in defeats to Wirral and Crewe, teams containing many Performance Centre players.
Some of Warrington’s players have another couple of years at under 15s level and so hopefully will have benefited from the experience and continue to develop.
