WARRINGTON golfer Tom Murray has got off to a great start at the South Africa Open Championship.
The 24-year-old from Lymm, contesting the second event of his maiden European Tour, is tied 10th after day one at Glendower Golf Club in Johannesburg.
An eagle on the second hole, a 557-yard par three, set the tone and birdies on the sixth, eighth and 17th contributed to the Lymm Golf Club member finishing three under - three behind joint leaders Jbe Kruger of South Africa and Andy Sullivan of England.
Dropping a shot on the ninth and 11th holes cost him the opportunity to be tying joint third with Ernie Els.
Play continues tomorrow.
