A WARRINGTON athlete smashed her personal best at SportCity Manchester on Sunday.

Warrington Athletics Club's Carys McAulay smashed was competing at the Sale Harriers Open Indoor Meeting in the 600m.

McAulay beat her personal best time by six seconds.

She finished in second place behind Scottish Commonwealth Games 4x400m relay runner Kirsten McAslan, recording her fastest time of 1min33.32secs.

The teenager has set herself targets this year to make the Scottish team for the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa, while also securing a spot in the Great Britain team for the World Youth Games in Colombia.

As well as McAulay, Warrington Athletics Club had six other athletes competing at the open day.

Fisayo Williamson-Taylor won the 200m race in 23.77secs and also came third in his 60m race in 7.46secs.

Owen Lee finished his 600m race in third place, recording a personal best time of 1min31.12secs.

Melissa Boyer, following her Cheshire bronze medal on Saturday, finished second in her race in 1min43.73secs, while Elizabeth Wright put in a personal best performance of 1min42.48secs.

Ladislav Taric was fifth in his 60m race in a time 8.13secs, he also finished fourth in the 200m in 26.41secs.

In the long jump, Ellie Baker finished in sixth with a jump of 4.79m.
