Knutsford 3 Rylands 2
RYLANDS fell to a narrow defeat at Knutsford in the Cheshire Football League Premier Division on Saturday after holding a 1-0 lead at half time.
Ben Latham gave Rylands the lead after 18 minutes, heading home from a Dean Jennings cross, and the visitors held on well until half time with their lead intact.
The second period saw the home side enjoy good possession and after what Rylands felt was a harsh free kick had been awarded on the edge of the penalty area, Smart tapped home the keeper’s parry from close range.
The Reds then took the lead but Rylands responded through an equaliser from Dave Berry.
Knutsford grabbed the winner with 15 minutes to go when Braine finished well from the edge of the area.
Rylands, a win away from fifth spot, host sixth-place Pilkington at Gorsey Lane on Saturday, kick off 2pm.
Rylands: Moor, Parr, Finch, Gibson, Dykes, Wilson, Tierney, Latham, Berry, Brownhill, Jennings. Subs: Clements, James, Freeman.
