JACK Stubbings led a Warrington Athletics Club team to second place in the first meeting of the Manchester Area Cross Country League.
The youngster continued his good form in the under 15s boys’ race on Saturday and led the team home in second place with a time of 17mins14secs.
Behind Stubbings, Sam Rostron, Daniel Fox and Luke Gamble had a closely-fought battle to finish in fourth, fifth and seventh places respectively, with times of 17mins40secs, 17mins43secs and 17mins51secs.
In the under 17s men’s race Daniel Evans finished in seventh place with 17mins3secs, while Owen Lee was 11th in 17mins34secs.
The day was brought to a close by the senior men with Nick Jones finishing in 10th place in 34mins6secs to be first veteran overall.
