CARYS McAulay and Harriet Knowles Jones won gold medals at the Sainsbury’s School Games in Manchester.
Running for the north west team, Warrington Athletics Club's McAulay did a double.
In the 800m, the English Schools’ champion was in the leading four as they pulled away from the rest and she took charge over the last 50 metres to be a comfortable winner in 2mins10.54secs.
McAuley then was part of the winning team in the 4x300m relay as a total time of 2mins 40.40secs was recorded.
Knowles-Jones was also a comfortable winner, with her successes coming in the 3000m.
She was nearly 20 seconds ahead of her nearest rival, clocking 9mins 39.60secs.
Cameron Meakin finished fifth in the boys’ 100m hurdles in 14.78secs.
