WARRINGTON runners contested the Cheshire Cross Country Championships at the weekend.

Competitors from Warrington Athletics Club, Spectrum Striders, Warrington Road Runners and Lymm Runners were among the 439 finishers across junior and senior categories in the event staged at the town’s Birchwood Forest Park on Saturday.

Among the highlights, in a meet hosted by Spectrum Striders, were Spectrum's third place in the senior women's competition and second in the women's veterans' event.

And for Warrington Athletics Club, there was lots to be pleased about.

Cameron Field won the under 20s men's race, Liam Burthem collected bronze in the under 17s boys' race (with the team finishing second), and Harriet Knowles-Jones crossed the line first in the under 17s girls' event.

Owen Lee was third in the under 15s boys' race (with the team finishing second), Lauren Ferris and Sarah Mcgrail placed second and third (with teams first and second) in the under 15s girls' competition.

Sam Evans was victorious in the under 13s boys' contest (with the team placing second), Isabelle Trevithick won the under 13s girls' race, Lucas Hayes sealed bronze in the under 11s boys' event and the under 11s girls' team came home second.
