Warrington Town 1 Hyde United 1
YELLOWS face the tricky prospect of a replay at in-form Hyde United if they are to advance to the FA Cup third qualifying round.
A trip to Boston Town awaits the winners of the replay, which takes place at Ewen Fields tomorrow, Tuesday.
It looked as if Yellows had won the tie and ended the Tigers’ 18-game unbeaten run when Ged Kinsella gave them the lead, but Karl Jones’ injury-time leveller denied them that honour.
In an opening half of few chances, perhaps the clearest for the home side fell for substitute Ruben Jerome, who had come on for top scorer Tony Gray early on after the experienced frontman succumbed to a hamstring injury.
He was put through on goal, but Tigers stopper Peter Crook diverted the ball away as Jerome tried to take it round him.
Hyde had plenty of chances themselves but could not force an opener before the break.
With chances few and far between after the interval, Kinsella made an impact manager Paul Carden would have dreamed of just five minutes after coming on.
After Sean Williams whipped in a superb free kick, the midfielder powered home a bullet header.
After Jerome and Hyde’s Luke Porritt swapped excellent chances for a crucial second goal, it looked as if Yellows would hold out until the fifth minute of added time.
The visitors broke and, with five men attacking the area, Jones buried the ball past Tony McMillan to force a replay.
Warrington Town: McMillan, Carden, Keown, Barnes, McCarten, Baker (Richards), Mwasile,(Kinsella) Williams, Gray (Jerome), Hughes, Sanogo. Subs not used: Ascroft, Davis, Vassallo.
