LIVERPOOL Reserves will be hoping for a winning start to 2009 when they take on Middlesbrough at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Tuesday, kick off 7pm.

The Reds had their start to the new year delayed when their game against Sunderland on January 6 was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

It was a frustrating blow to Gary Ablett's side, who will be eager to turn around their Barclays Premier Reserve League North fortunes.

Last season's champions are in contention for this year's wooden spoon, starting 2009 in 10th place in the 11-team league.

They have won only twice in 10 games and are winless in their last four league encounters.

A 2-0 friendly victory against Preston North End before Christmas provided hope though and Ablett will be confident his side can improve their current form.

Tickets for the Middlesbrough game are priced at £6 for adults and £3 for juniors/concessions and are available from Wolfware, online at warringtonwolves.com or by calling 0871 622 1879 A family ticket, two adults and two children, is available in advance for £14.
