RYLANDS boss Darren Davies hopes his side’s League Cup victory over Denton Town can give them confidence after a poor run of form.

First-half goals from Rhys Bowers and Euan Woods earned Blues a 2-1 victory at Gorsey Lane on Saturday and put an end to a four-game winless run.

“I thought we were excellent in the first half with the ball and played with good discipline in the second,” Davies said.

“We probably should have won by a greater margin, but in cup football all that matters is the result and we got the job done.

“I hope we can take confidence in to the upcoming games after a recent run of bad results.”

Elsewhere, Greenalls PSO won only their second Cheshire League Premier Division game of the season with an impressive 3-1 win at Congleton VR, who started the day in fifth.

Gavin Horner, Christopher Rogers and Lewis Morgans were on the scoresheet for Greens.

Eagle Sports fell victim to high-flying Knutsford’s superb form as they slipped to a 4-1 loss at Thornton Road, with Alex Brisco scoring for Rob Hope’s men.

In League One, Daten slipped from top spot after losing 2-0 to fellow promotion hopefuls Egerton.

Grappenhall Sports had five different players on the scoresheet in their 5-3 win over Unicorn Athletic in League Two.

Adam Ashcroft, Adam Green, Odiloni Koubemba, Sean Preston and Mark Hewett all hit the target for Grappers.

Orford fell to a 3-2 home defeat to Ford Motors, with Liam McLoughlin and Mark Lawton on the mark for the hosts, while Moore United pushed Premier Division outfit Poynton all the way in the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup.

Joshua Kavanagh’s late goal set up a grandstand finish, but Joe Holt’s side eventually succumbed to a 2-1 defeat.
