WARRINGTON Town boss Stuart Mellish says his players are focusing solely on Saturday’s game at Glossop North End rather than next weekend’s potential title celebrations.

Victory against the Hillmen will leave them needing a single point from next week’s final home game against Prescot Cables to secure the Northern Premier League First Division North title.

Town could even secure the title on Saturday if second-placed Spennymoor drop points at home to Bamber Bridge but Mellish says it doesn’t bother him where the title is won.

“I’ll win the title anywhere, we just want to get the job done,” he said.

“It’s fallen quite nicely and it gives us the chance to win it in front of our own fans, but the lads are just focused on Glossop and getting the win there in what will be a tough game.

“We’re four points away from glory, so we’ll focus our minds right and get ourselves ready for Saturday.”

Goals from Ciaran Kilheeney and Steven Gillespie secured the win over Brighouse last weekend, and Mellish believes the result was never in doubt.

“We started fantastically and should have been two or three up inside 15 minutes but their keeper made an excellent save,” he said.

“Games against teams with nothing to play for can be difficult as they slow the game down, but it was a thoroughly professional performance and I don’t think we were ever in danger of not winning.”

Saturday’s opponents have only lost two home games all season.

“We played Glossop earlier in the season and they couldn’t live with us but we haven’t seen too much of them since,” said Mellish.

“They have an excellent home record but we’re confident we can go there and do a job.”
