SIX wins from their remaining nine league games could wrap up the title for Warrington.

That is without the prospect of closest rivals Spennymoor and Northwich Vics dropping points.

Spennymoor sit 19 points behind the league leaders with three games in hand, while Vics are a further three points back but with an extra game on their second-placed rivals.

Cheshire neighbours Vics were for the majority of the season considered Town’s main threat to the title, and automatic promotion, but have since been docked nine points.

Town look set to coast beyond a century of goals in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North this season after a 9-0 hammering of Droyslden made it a club-record 96 for a league season.

The magic ton could be hit this Saturday when the Yellows host relegation-threatened Ossett Town at Cantilever Park in a 3pm kick-off.

Stuart Mellish’s outfit are also on course to break the 100-point mark.

Skipper Ciaran Kilheeney is leading the division’s goal-scoring charts with 27, striking up a fearsome partnership with fellow frontman Ben Deegan, while winger Chris Gahgan is also into double figures in the league.

And Town have lost only three of their 33 league games so far.

The most recent of those losses came at rivals Vics, whose deduction for fielding a player not properly registered in four games this season was taken off their points tally by league chiefs on Sunday.

They won three of the games goalkeeper Mason Springthorpe played.

Vics admitted breaching the rules, as they did in October when they were found to have picked Springthorpe – then on loan from AFC Telford United – in two FA Cup ties.

On that occasion, they avoided expulsion from the competition following an appeal.

However Vics argue this punishment is harsh, and plan to ask independent experts trained to resolve sporting conflicts for their verdict.

Vics’ appeal could delay the competition’s finish, and if successful would take the title to the wire.
