WARRINGTON Town continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 2-0 home win against Radcliffe Boro on Tuesday.
An early own goal and Nathan Burke strike sealed Shaun Reid’s side their first three points of the season following an opening-day draw at Bamber Bridge.
It took the Yellows less than three minutes to get on the scoreboard, when Scott Metcalfe’s cross was diverted into the Radcliffe net by defender Aaron Walters.
Burke twice forced Chris Cheetham into a save early on, while keeper Karl Wills was relieved to see the referee wave away a penalty at the other end after his challenge.
Ciaran Kilheeney was also looking dangerous, and he set up Burke again only for the midfielder’s effort to be blocked.
Radcliffe were awarded a penalty on 30 minutes, but Wills got down well to save Richard Smith’s effort.
It took until 10 minutes from time for Town to finally make sure of the points, with Burke curling home after Metcalfe’s effort found him in the box.
Town: Wills, Brown, McQuade, Ventre (Roberts), McCarten, O’Donnell, Gahgan (Noon), Burke, Kilheeney, Wharton (Gillespie), Metcalfe. Subs not used: Robinson, Cooper.
