IT was a lot later than planned, but Grange Sports lifted the Depot Cup on Saturday after beating Sankey Vale 2-1 in a final delayed from last season.

Grange took the lead five minutes in when Scott Robinson netted from the spot, while Alan Dickinson scored the winner before the break after Sankey had levelled.

Robinson was awarded the chance to convert when winger Joe Green was brought down in the box, and did so.

But Sankey Vale sprung into life when their own winger beat three men and fired into the corner from long range.

Both sides were pushing forward looking to take the lead before half time, but it was Grange who did so when Dickinson lashed home after a scramble in the box.

Sankey blazed a golden opportunity over the bar after the interval, but Grange otherwise held firm with a defence anchored by man of the match Dickinson.

His first-half goal proved the difference at Monks Sports Ground as Grange lifted the trophy for the third time in their history.
