AFTER playing three games in six days, Eagle Sports remain in contention for silverware on three fronts.
Ahead of Tuesday’s appearance in the Liverpool County FA Saturday Challenge Cup final against Byron at Liverpool FA Sports Complex, kick off 6.30pm, two wins this week kept them in contention for their first Cheshire League Premier Division crown.
A 2-1 home victory over title-rivals Linotype on Tuesday, plus a comeback success against Greenalls Padgate St Oswalds last Thursday, sandwiched a 2-0 defeat at Poynton on Saturday.
Eagle, three games and three points behind leaders Knutsford as well as one game and three points adrift of second-placed Linotype, will aim to maintain momentum against fourth-placed Crewe at Thornton Road this Saturday, kick off 3pm.
Strikers Ged McAllister and Lee Boardman bagged the all-important goals against Linotype, who Eagle visit for their final game next month.
Rob Hope’s side, who face Rylands in the Guardian Cup final on Monday, May 4, can thank McAllister, Boardman and Jon Shakeshaft for the goals at Greenalls – where they trailed 2-0 – that kept their campaign alive.
Phil Harrison and Ben McWilliams put Greenalls ahead.
