Whaley Bridge 0 Eagle Sports 1

EAGLE Sports made it over two months since they last conceded a league goal with a hard-fought 1-0 victory in the High Peak against Whaley Bridge.

The visitors started brightly and created a couple of early chances.

Lee Boardman went close on both occasions, with the home goalkeeper producing a fantastic stop to one effort around the post.

Eagle then hit the net through Jay Waldron but the goal was ruled out after the winger was adjudged to be offside following a Ged McAllister ball.

However, the Thornton Road side did take the lead just before the break when Danny Nixon followed up a loose clearance and finished from the edge of the box.

The home side began to impose themselves more on the game in the second half, offering a strong aerial threat.

But Rob Hope's side stood strong throughout the game and their clean sheet and three points were ensured when Neil McDermott produced an excellent save late in the game from a back-post header.
